Tuning:
Tuning depends on the style of music you want to play. The basic tuning of my instruments is:
G/C tuning:
- Drone string – G2
- Melody string – G3
- Trompette string – C4
You can achieve a different tuning by changing the strings.
G/C tuning – keys from the player’s point of view.
G/C tuning – tonal range.
String types can be different, I usually use the following:
- Melody string – viola string 4/4 – metal
- Trompette string – fluorocarbon, nylgut or monofil nylon string – thickness 0.84 to 1.10 mm
- Drone string – cello string 1/8 – nylon/metal
